Polycystic ovarian syndrome is a major problem among teenager girls and women these days. Many a times, the follicle does not develop or a developed follicle cannot rupture. This may result in anovulation.
All these enruptured follicles cause the swelling of the ovary , which causes the absence of menses for two or three months. This is called polycystic ovarian disease.
Irregular menstrual cycles, pimples, darkening of skin, sudden weight gain, hair fall, dandruff, unwanted hair growth over lips and chin and mood swings are the major signs of this syndrome.
Early to sleep and early to rise is the basic mantra for a healthy lifestyle. The continuous mental stress due to studies, IT jobs, corporate work and hectic lifestyle disturb the metabolic balance of the body . The lack of exercise also contributes in gaining weight. Disturbed timings of breakfast, lunch and dinner do not give proper nutrition. Fast food, spicy and salty food can also regularly alter the metabolism.
As per Ayurveda, ovum is derived from shukradhatu which is called shukranu. There are seven components in the body called dhatu. Ayurveda concentrates on the metabolic power that is dhatu agni in each dhatu while treating PCOD. It improves metabolic rate and reduces extra weight and also nourishes skin and hair. Panchakarma plays the main role in this treatment. It makes the body lighter and stronger by detoxifying it. Shirodhara is also performed to beat the stress. Suryanamaskar, yoga and pranayam are also helpful in PCOD.Polycystic ovary patients can be now treated with thousand-year-old Ayurveda in an ancient way .
